Will Nebraska win the Big 12 North in 2006?
A current poll asking if the Huskers will win the Big 12 North in 2006 led to some interesting results. 73% of Husker Forum respondents think Nebraska will win the Big 12 North title next season. These results indicate a few things to me:
1) Callahan has won the confidence of the vast majority of people in the Husker Forum. That's quite a huge step from a year ago today.
2) The flip side is that now that our confidence in the staff is up, so are our expectations. If Nebraska doesn't win the North in 2006, there are going to be some very unhappy people.
3) Callahan's grace period is over. There are only 15 players remaining on the roster who were signed by and ever took the field for Solich. In other words, this is Callahan's program now. He signed 71 of 85 scholarship players on the current roster. The "no talent" excuse won't fly next year, because Callahan himself signed the talent. He will get all the credit or blame for this season.
4) Expectations, even going into Callahan's third year, still aren't too high. Winning the North with ISU as the only team not suffering major losses going into this season isn't too much to ask. An appearance in the Big 12 title game will make fans happy and set the stage for BCS expectations in 2007.

As Barry Switzer once said: "Hey, I didn't create this monster. I'm just the latest guy that has to feed it." - - in reference to the rabid fans and their expectations - - something to that effect anyway.
Once you create that tradition, you're only as good as your last victory.
Now, if we could only get that kind of tradition going in Basket Ball.

THE HUSKERS WILL DEFINETELY WIN THE BiG 12 TITLE AND IF YOU THINK ANY DIFFERENT THEN GET THE HELL OUT OF NEBRASKA!!!!!!
Not only will we win the Big 12 North we will also win the Big 12. One thing I will guarantee is Terry Douglass will find a way to put a negative spin on anything the Huskers achieve. GO BIG RED!
Nebraska will definately win the big12 north. Kansas definately won't win because they lost their defense. Iowa state won't win because they play OU,UT, andTT in the same year. Thats three losses right there. Colorado and Kansas st. won't win because of new coaches and because they wern't any good to begin with. Oh, and Mizzu lost brad smith.
I think the KU game will decide the North. Unless the offensive line is much improved we won't win against Texas or OU unless they hand us the game.
Apparently Dave is the type of Husker fan all us true fans hate. If you are not a fan, shut up and why waste your time inputting your comment on a Husker Blog site?
